The 2018 Kia Stinger is in the running for a prestigious title

Each year sixty automotive journalists from the US and Canada get together and decide on the winners for the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the year awards. This prestigious gathering has been around since 1994 and to earn the coveted title, vehicles are judged on the following stringent categories:

  • Segment Leadership
  • Innovation
  • Design
  • Safety
  • Handle
  • Driver Satisfaction
  • Value Per Dollar

We at Kia of Wilmington are extremely proud to announce that the 2018 Kia Stinger was named a top-three finalist in the car category! This is the first Kia to earn the honor and the president and CEO of Kia, Justin Sohn, says this nod "marks an important milestone in Kia's history."

The Kia Stinger is new for the Kia lineup and although the company is South Korean, we like to consider it a German exchange student, because it cut its teeth in Frankfurt and on the Nürburgring race track. It still retains a Kia personality and design, while also taking note of its German counterparts when it comes to engine performance. In fact, the Kia Stinger beat out competition from BMW, Porsche, and Audi in a 0-60 test (time 4.7 seconds) thanks to a 365 horsepower, 376 lb-ft of torque engine. Clearly, the 2018 Kia Stinger has earned its top-three spot and we of course hope it ends up coming out on top!
